The tone of teeth might have various colors conditioned by many factors. We have control of some of them and don’t have it on others. Medication that we take, antibiotics taken in early ages of our life are those factors that might decolor our teeth. Diet also appeal to matter when we talk about discoloration of teeth, as food has natural dye that stain our tooth enamel. Smoking is next factor that influences the color of teeth – they become darker with stains on them. Bad hygiene is the last factor of teeth discoloration. Dark spots may appear less often if we implement rules of oral hygiene to our daily routine. Brushing teeth twice a day for 2 minutes and regular use of dental floss are the basics. Injured tooth can also change its color. Genetics and age are two factors of teeth discoloring that we have no control of. In case of genetically darker teeth whitening might not give expected results. Dentition of young people characterizes in more tooth enamel. With age the dentition darkens, which is the result of dental enamel detrition when it gets more yellow.
