LASERS IN DENTAL TREATMENT

Laser therapy is currently the most effective therapeutic method and the best clinical solution in dentistry. Dental lasers are devices that are a modern alternative to traditional tools that arouse fear among patients. The use of a dental laser during treatment creates an opportunity for relatively bloodless and painless procedures performed on both soft and hard tissues. In the best clinics, including my Trio-Dent clinic, lasers with perfectly matched power are already available, thanks to which most dental procedures can be performed with minimal invasiveness. Lasers in dentistry have a wide range of applications, including anti-inflammatory, analgesic, bactericidal and biostimulating effects. With the help of currently available lasers, the vast majority of dental procedures can be performed after proper diagnosis by a dentist. The undeniable advantage of laser treatment is also the fact that they generate up to 85 percent. less aerosol compared to traditional rotary tools – this means that laser treatment significantly contributes to the reduction of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to the reduced emission of aerosol that favors the transmission of droplet-borne viruses.

The main advantages of using a laser compared to the traditional method of treatment:

  • treatment of cavities in patients of all ages (especially in children!) – without the need to use drills and most often without anesthesia
  • Preservation of more healthy tooth tissue than with a conventional dental drill
  • almost bloodless surgery and reduced risk of bleeding after the procedure (coagulation properties)
  • much less pain and discomfort after the procedure
  • no need to suture the wound in most cases
  • faster wound healing after dental surgery
  • reduction of bacteria in the area of surgery
  • minimal pain sensation during the procedure, which avoids the use of analgesic injections
  • complete procedure in one visit
  • the use of a laser during treatment in children, significantly reducing their fear and pain sensation

Diode lasers

At the Trio-Dent clinic, we use American diode lasers from the company BIOLASE. These are ultra-modern, safe lasers designed for soft tissues. They can be used in surgical and periodontal procedures, in endodontic (root canal) treatment, as well as in prosthetics and implantology and cosmetic dentistry for teeth whitening.

SOFT TISSUE PROCEDURES

  • Gingivectomy
  • Gingivoplasty
  • Incision or excision of tissue
  • Taking biopsy specimens
  • Exposing impacted teeth
  • Removal of benign nodules
  • Undercutting the frenulum of the lips and tongue
  • Exposing implants – the laser can be used within metal parts in the mouth without fear of interactions
  • Incision and drainage of abscesses
  • A procedure to remove or significantly accelerate the healing of ulcers, herpes and aphthae
  • Plastic surgery of the mouth vestibule

PROCEDURES IN PERIODONTOLOGY:

  • treatment of periodontal pockets
  • removal of diseased tissue, elimination of bacteria

TEETH WHITENING:

  • Laser teeth whitening with the use of a whitening gel: the procedure takes about 20 minutes.

In addition, the shape of the tip head is adapted to the dental arch, thanks to which it is possible to whiten single, discolored teeth

  • Safe procedure and no post-treatment symptoms in the form of hypersensitivity.

PAIN THERAPY:

  • Treatment of ailments of the temporomandibular joint (including strengthening, relaxation of the mandibular muscles, reduction / elimination of the shooting effect in the mandible, etc.)
  • Temporary increase of tissue temperature, which in turn leads to muscle relaxation and pain relief

Erb lasers (Er, Cr; YSGG)

They are intended mainly for the preparation of hard, soft and bone tissues, in most cases without the need for anesthesia. The erbium laser has almost unlimited applications in dentistry and maxillary surgery. BIOLASE erbium lasers have 56 predefined dental treatment procedures.

Procedures performed with the Waterlase iPlus erbium laser of the American company BIOLASE:

  • minimally invasive cavity preparation – no damage to the surrounding tissue, no vibration or heat generation; eliminates discomfort, more healthy tissues remain after processing, the tooth structure is preserved,
  • removal of caries and existing fillings,
  • phrenectomy – no need for suturing, safe and effective procedure within the tooth roots, no anesthesia, no postoperative discomfort, no risk of cross-infection, elimination of stress related to anesthesia in children or interaction with drugs in seniors, quick recovery after surgery
  • removal of excess gum
  • clinical crown lengthening procedure also available free of charge
  • excision of the gingival hood
  • excision or removal of the fibroma
  • gum contouring
  • development of the periodontal pocket
  • gingivectomy
  • removal of the residual scale after scaling

Implantology

  • Exposing the implants
  • Implant cleaning
  • Treatment of complications of the Peri-implantitis type
  • Purification after extraction

Surgery
